About

IMG_6745  I’m a therapist, just kidding, I’m a therapist due to recent life events.  My life experiences have left me with enough pages to fill a book, enough hospital selfies with my Dad to fill another book.  Losing my Dad to Stage 4 base of the tongue cancer on January 17, 2016 has brought me back to the keyboard.  Blogging is my feeble attempt to make sense of something my rational mind refuses to comprehend.

7 years ago my larger than life, heroic father was diagnosed with Stage 4 base of the tongue cancer.  The moment I heard “Your father has cancer” my entire world stopped spinning.  I cried until my tears dried up and then I cried some more.   When he began his aggressive treatments, I began writing like a maniac.   I have never shared these stories until now.

As we slowly walked the path of cancer and post cancer our lives dramatically changed.  The relationship I once took for granted with my Dad was a distant memory and I was on a quest for a miracle.  Since much of the last few years of my Dad’s life was in and out of hospitals we began a game, we would take “hospital selfies” post them on Facebook and discuss all the likes.

I hope that you will join me as I share my journey both old and new, and I hope that if you like what you read you will share on social media.  My wish is that I can help others fighting this fight and they never feel alone or afraid.

  1. Lisa, I found this blog on facebook and literally cried my eyes out while reading it. Although my father passed away from other reasons, some of this really hit home and felt like I wrote it myself! You’re writing is absolutely amazing!
